International students can come to our office for practical questions related to your stay as a student in Brussels, e.g. registration at city hall, how to open a bank account in Belgium, health insurance, ... Also for questions of a legal or financial nature, e.g. payment of the tuition fee in installments, eligibility for a study grant of the Flemish Community, reduction of the tuition fee, ... the Social Services' office can help you.
We would like to point out, however, that if you came to Belgium with a student visa for reasons of study, you are not eligible for financial support. In this case you must have sufficient financial means to cover your study and living costs for the whole period of your stay in Brussels. In some specific cases, the Social Services' office can offer limited financial help to students who fulfill specific conditions or to students who experience a temporary and unforeseen financial difficulty.
Check the menu on the left for more detailed information on the different topics. If you did not find an answer to your question or solution for your specific situation, do not hesitate to contact one of the staff members of the Social Services' office.
We are glad to help you and your request/question will be treated discretely. You can call us, send an e-mail or schedule an appointment by e-mail/online or come to the office during opening hours.
